A preparative meeting at Chester was established in 12mo, 1698/9. At the time of the Hicksite Separation of 1827, this meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. In 1934, Chester Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) became the new Chester Monthly Meeting at the dissolution of the original Chester Monthly Meeting (Hicksite). In 1934, Chester Monthly Meeting of Friends (Hicksite) was discontinued, and its two preparative meetings, Chester and Providence, were established as monthly meetings. Providence Monthly Meeting assumed the business and records of the parent meeting. Chester Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) then became the new Chester Monthly Meeting.
